Tenison Woods College

Flexible Learning Centre

The Flexible Learning Centre formed stage 1 of the Tenison Woods College Master Plan. It was envisaged that the most effective way of optimising space and still meet the immediate and long term demands on facilities was to provide flexible learning spaces.

This type of construction is designed to free up classrooms for larger classes and provide smaller learning/study areas for smaller classes or study groups that are more evident in the Senior School.

The flexibility allows smaller classrooms to combine and form larger functional spaces.

With technology moving to the forefront of education, Multipurpose spaces to cater for additional computer access was a priority within the building planning.

As part of the B.E.R funding stimulus scheme, the building offers a new science computing hub for use by the broader community. New prep room facilities, centrally located to the existing science labs and new chemistry and physics specific classrooms.

The buildings orientation is fundamental in the passive solar lighting and the use of solar panels
throughout the building.

Multipurpose Hall

Funded through the B.E.R stimulus plan, the existing school hall and classrooms were renovated and a new formal entry was created.

The renovated classrooms formed specialist I.T / language Space and uniform shop facilities. Existing classrooms were also renovated, with new windows and internal linings.
